The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has underwritten the costs for this project launch event as part of their Opportunity Online effort. The launch will bring together libraries included in the project along with other library leaders and project partners, as well as federal, state, and community leaders.

The Washington State Library team, led by Acting State Librarian Rand Simmons, is planning the launch event with their NoaNet partners. This event, Broadband in Washington Libraries, will be held at the Hotel Murano in Tacoma on December 13-14 by invitation only. The foundation is covering event-related costs, including travel, lodging, and meals for participants.
